Robin R. Roderick, RDH, BSDH, MSDH graduated from Lake Washington Institute of Technology dental hygiene program in 1999 where she earned her Associates of Science in both dental assisting and dental hygiene. Through her more than twenty years practicing, she has worked in different specialty practices, such as biocompatible dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, and oral and maxillofacial dentistry. Her passions for the profession lead her into education, receiving both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University. She has taught part-time at Lake Washington Institute of Technology and full-time at Columbia Basin College here in the Tri- cities. She loves the Tri-cities and has no plans on going back to the west side with all the traffic and rain. Throughout her dental hygiene career, Robin has served as president, secretary, trustee, and ADHA delegate for the Washington State Dental Hygiene Association. She proudly served on advisory boards for Columbia Basin College, Teaching &Learning, Eastern Washington University’s degree completion program, and on 3M ESPE’s Council for Innovative Dental Hygiene. As a part of her Master’s thesis, she conducted a study on the use of a discussion board with in the Alliance of Dental Hygiene Practitioners (ADHP) website. Robin’s previous experience in the graphic design, sales/marketing within the printing industry was a key influence to her thesis work regarding virtual communities of practice (VCoP) and dental hygienists with community practices. After working with this innovative group of dental hygienists, her eyes were opened to the critical lack of oral health services for our older adults and those with limited access to dental services. Having come from a family of thirteen, the tenth of eleven children, she had personally experienced the lack of access to affordable oral health.  Wanting to become one solution to this silent epidemic, she acquired Oral Health Care, LLC from her mentor, friend, and colleague, Marie McElderry, RDH, BSDH. Robin has always advocated for overall health care, and states, “clearly, the mouth is not separate from the rest of the body and oral health is crucial to general health and welfare. Providing affordable, convenient, high quality, mobile dental hygiene services to home or facility bound seniors and those with limited access to dental services, as many direct providers do, is part of the oral health care solution, making a direct and dramatic difference in the health of my clients and promote optimal quality of life.” She is looking forward, and is very excited, to provide individualized care for you and your loved ones.
